La Playa de Puerto López

Saludos desde la playa de Puerto López!

We’ve arrived safely at our last destination of the trip, and are excited for a few more adventures! We left Rio Muchacho Organic Farm after a leisurely morning (we took the day off from feeding the animals and cleaning their pens!).

Our last full day at the farm was a perfect way to complete all of what we’ve been learning. We started the day up in the garden, harvesting all the food that we would need for lunch. After picking yucca, plantains, Lima beans, and salad greens we went down to the kitchen for the final addition to our meal: chicken! We prepared the whole meal, up to the chicken, and packed it to take with us on a hike up to a waterfall and swimming hole in the community.

Drenched in sweat and (some of us) sore from horseback riding, we reached the monkey forest and sat down for a feast – that we’d helped to create straight from the land. Although we weren’t able to spot the monkeys, the lunch was enough of a treat! We then headed back down to the swimming hole, our final destination. Though it took some convincing, almost everyone swam and even those on the shore joined in the laughing and games.

We’re excited to enjoy the beach, Isla de la Plata, and more inspiring discussions about the sustainability action plans that will be developed even more in the last few days of our trip.
