This is a virtual program for high school students that are passionate about taking climate action in their communities. Each cohort of students will meet once per week on Zoom to learn strategies for successful implementation of a climate-focused project in your community. Students will learn skills including:
- Stakeholder analysis and mapping
- Root cause analysis
- Problem statements
- Rapid prototyping and LQC design
This program is open to any high school student from around the world that has an idea for a climate project and is looking for support. There will be five synchronous meetings on Zoom, held Wednesday evenings from 8pm to 9pm Eastern Time. Students will present their projects on the final Sunday of the program.
Students accepted into the program will have access to dozens of e-learning resources on climate change and community action. This is also a fantastic opportunity to connect with students from all over the world that share your passion.
Students should be prepared to contribute an additional 2-4 hours out of class time each week to the program. Students should also have an idea for a project in mind. This program is designed for students that are already knowledgeable about the main scientific and policy issues and are looking to implement a project to address one of those issues locally. Consequently, no class time is dedicated to educating students about climate change although students can certainly plan to work through our asynchronous climate curriculum prior to beginning the program.
Projects need not be grandiose in aspiration. In fact, a well-articulated, seemingly simple goal is likely to have myriad challenges waiting in hiding. We want to help you identify those challenges and create a plan for bringing your project to a successful completion.

Step 1Apply online. Your application will include a Letter of Recommendation from a teacher or mentor and two short (500 words or less) responses to open-ended questions about sustainability. There is no application fee.
Step 2Admissions decision, based principally on the applicant's ability to demonstrate capacity to create and complete a community action project while contributing positively to our community of students.
Step 3Enroll. Students make a commitment to participation in the virtual program.
