Quilotoa

Our last day in Chugchilan was spent parting ways with Javier and his family and taking in some of the most beautiful views in the region! Beginning at an elevation of 12,000 feet, we hiked down a crater to the beautiful blue water’s edge of Laguna Quilotoa. Before enjoying lunch with a pristine view, we negotiated a little kayaking trip allowing us to see the crater walls from a different perspective. It was truly an amazing experience.

Upon return to Black Sheep Inn, we had a great talk from the original designer of the ecolodge. He showed us some of the systems operating around the lodge and went into depth on the details of a composting toilet! We were lucky to have him around today as he has been in Ecuador for two decades now and has a lot of knowledge of the area.
Tomorrow, we will begin our route to Mashpi Shungo! Although we are looking forward to seeing it and the rest of Ecuador, we will certainly miss our time here in the mountains. We aren’t positive on our next opportunity to have Internet, but we will do our best to update you all again as soon as we can!
Saludos from Ecuador,
Seeds 2016
