  • We have participants from 37 different states across the USA (AL, AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, IL, IN, KA, LA, MA, ME, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, VA, WA, WV, TN, TX, UT), plus dozens of international locations
  • 41% of participants receive some sort of need-based financial assistance with the most common award being 50% of tuition
  • 62% of participants are rising seniors; 21% rising juniors; 6% rising sophomores; 11% rising college freshman
  • 42% of participants attend private school; 58% public
  • 43% male; 57% female

Beyond The Numbers

By the numbers, the “typical” Sustainable Summer student is a current junior (rising senior) and from the Northeastern US or California. There’s about a 58% likelihood he or she goes to a public school (and a roughly 50% likelihood he is a he versus she is a she). In some ways, this sounds like the picture of a pretty typical high school kid (or at least high school kids that travel abroad on a summer program).
