Costa Rica Bridge to the Future Session II is off and running!

Upon our arrival at Rancho Mastatal yesterday we got acquainted with our beautiful, open air classroom space and bunkhouse. After going over some orientation stuff and playing some games we managed to squeeze in a hike to a nearby waterfall where we cooled off, swam around, and practiced a little rock climbing! We had a delicious, fresh pesto pasta dinner complete with homemade fruit ice creams for dessert! After dinner we played a few more games and then everyone slept really well after a long day!

Today we had tropical fruits for breakfast and traditional gallo pinto then we headed out for a tour of the ranch property and some of the buildings made from natural materials. This afternoon we are learning how to make soap and learning a little more about the fruits and animals found on the farm. Everybody has interesting and unique reasons for joining this program and tomorrow we will get to break up and practice different morning life skills with the farm apprentices. We are looking forward to our jungle tour with a local indigenous man and chocolate farm and processing facility site visit in the next couple of days, as well as getting to know each other better and exploring what it means to be an environmental leader!
