Welcome to Sustaining the Amazon 2017

Hey everybody!

We’re getting ready to start our Amazon adventure! Can’t wait to spend two amazing weeks with all of you – exploring the diverse jungle ecosystem. This is Joanna’s second year with Sustainable Summer, and she’s eager to share her passion for tropical ecology, while connecting with the land and local communities.

This will be the second year leading the Amazon program and third season overall at Sustainable Summer for Maclaine. A few of his favorite memories in the Amazon are drinking a local tea called guayusa, learning alongside the local Quechua people, and ending long hikes with breathtaking waterfalls! We are so excited to dive into some of the complex challenges involved with conserving the Amazon and can’t wait to share meals, laughs, and this incredible experience with all of you!
